Web design in The Hague: prices, languages and local search
A website for a business or organisation in The Hague costs EUR 1.500-3.500 at JP Studio when it needs 4-7 pages, a CMS and a booking or contact route, and EUR 600-900 when a single landing page is enough. Logins, dashboards and payments put a project at EUR 3.500-7.500. The studio is in Amsterdam; below is what sits behind those numbers and what is particular to building for The Hague.
Which step fits what the site has to do
We price in five steps. Start from the left column, which describes the job the site does, and read across.
| What the site has to do | Step | Price | Timeline |
|---|---|---|---|
| One page for a campaign or event, with a form and analytics | 01 Single-page landing | EUR 600-900 | 1-2 weeks |
| A small practice: 2-3 pages, a contact flow, a basic CMS | 02 Mini-site | EUR 900-1.500 | 2-3 weeks |
| 4-7 pages, a page per service, a CMS, booking or contact | 03 Business website | EUR 1.500-3.500 | 3-6 weeks |
| Login, dashboard, CRM or API, payments, chatbot | 04 Advanced site / web app | EUR 3.500-7.500 | 6-12 weeks |
| A product of its own: auth, billing, admin, deployment | 05 Custom SaaS platform | from EUR 7.500 | After discovery |
Each step ends in a fixed quote, written after scoping. What every step includes is set out on the pricing page.
Den Haag, The Hague or 's-Gravenhage
The city goes by three names, and each turns up in a different place. Dutch speakers search for Den Haag. English speakers search for The Hague. 's-Gravenhage is the formal name, and you still meet it in official records and some address data.
For your site, this decides titles and URLs. An English page should use The Hague in its title and headings, and a Dutch page should use Den Haag. Cramming both names into one title reads badly in the results. If you serve both audiences, build a Dutch page and an English page, link them with hreflang tags, and give each the name its readers type. The address stays identical on both, and on your Google Business Profile.
Who the site is for, in this city
The Hague is where the Dutch government and parliament sit, where foreign embassies to the Netherlands are based, and where the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have their seats. Around them work law practices, consultancies, NGOs and translators whose readers are not always Dutch, and for them English may be the site's first language.
Accessibility needs a decision early. Dutch government websites are legally required to meet accessibility standards based on WCAG, and if you supply government bodies or depend on public funding, tender or grant conditions can ask the same of you. Contrast, heading order, keyboard navigation and form labels are settled in design. Fixing them after launch means redoing design work, so if a requirement applies to you, bring it to scoping and it goes into the quote.
Then there are the neighbourhood businesses: a physiotherapist in Bezuidenhout, a café in the Zeeheldenkwartier, a hairdresser in Ypenburg. For them the Business Profile and the site have to agree on name, address and phone number, and the district name belongs on the page where it is true. Scheveningen adds a deadline. A venue near the beach that opens for the season has a fixed date to hit, so count back from it. Step 03 is 3-6 weeks, and the copy and photos are the part that waits on you.
What moves the price and the timeline
- Languages. A Dutch and an English version means every page exists twice. Page count is part of what sets the step, so a second language can push a project up the range or into the next step.
- Approvals. If sign-off needs two partners, a board or a communications team, every design round waits for the slowest of them. That is the part that waits on you, and a schedule that ignores it will slip.
- Integrations. A link to your booking tool fits step 03. A client login, a CRM connection or taking payments is step 04 work.
After launch, two things can run monthly. Care, at EUR 100-300/mo, covers updates, monitoring, backups and small fixes; a redesign or a new feature is quoted as a project of its own. SEO growth, at EUR 500-800/mo, covers technical and on-page work, service and location pages, internal links and reporting. The SEO foundation works differently. It is a one-off at EUR 450-750 that sets up Search Console and analytics, checks indexation and technical hygiene, fixes titles and internal links, and leaves you with a 3-6 month plan.
How a project with a Hague organisation runs
We start on a video call. Design and build rounds happen on a staging link that you and your colleagues open on your own devices, and feedback comes back in writing. When several people have to agree, that puts everyone in front of the same page and the same comments.
Den Haag Centraal has direct trains to Amsterdam Centraal, so an in-person workshop is realistic when a group of stakeholders needs to settle the structure of the site together in one room.
- Scoping call, written scope, fixed quote.
- Content and access: copy, photos, domain and tool logins, and any accessibility or language requirement the site has to meet.
- Design of the home page and one inner page, with your approval round.
- Build on staging, with feedback rounds.
- Launch, with redirects from your old URLs so existing links keep working.
Step 01 runs 1-2 weeks, step 02 runs 2-3 weeks, step 03 runs 3-6 weeks and step 04 runs 6-12 weeks. Step 05 gets a timeline once discovery is done. When it is finished, you own the code, the repository and the database. Hosting is agreed per project; the studio can host, and your quote says what was agreed. See design engineering for how we work, and Next.js development for step 04 and step 05 builds.
When to spend less
If you are an independent consultant and your work arrives through referrals and LinkedIn, the site's job is to confirm you exist when someone looks you up. A step 01 page at EUR 600-900 does that. So can a well-kept LinkedIn profile and a one-page template, and if that already works for you, do not hire us yet.
If you are waiting on a grant or a tender result, do not build the step 04 portal your application describes before the money is confirmed. A step 01 page explaining the programme holds the place, and the real thing can be scoped when the decision comes through.
If the season opens before a step 03 site could be ready, launch a step 01 page with your menu, opening hours and a link to your reservation tool, and build the fuller site afterwards.
Before you ask for a quote
Should the site be in English or Dutch first?
Write first in the language of the people who pay you. For an organisation working with international institutions that may well be English; for a shop in Bezuidenhout it is probably Dutch. If you need both, each language gets its own URLs and titles, linked with hreflang tags, and each version uses the city name its readers search for.
Does it matter that the studio is in Amsterdam?
For search, no. Your visibility in The Hague comes from your address, your Business Profile, your content and who links to you, and none of those depend on where the site was built. For meetings, it means a train ride when a meeting is worth having.
Our enquiries are confidential. What should the contact form ask?
As little as it needs to route the enquiry: a name, a way to reply and a short description. The detail belongs in the first conversation, not in an email sitting in a shared inbox. The form sends only the fields you decide on, and your privacy statement should say where that data goes.
If your organisation is in The Hague and you want a scope and a number, tell us what the site has to do.
