Web Design in Amsterdam: Prices, Meetings and Local Search
A website from our Amsterdam studio costs EUR 600-900 for a step 01 single-page landing, EUR 1.500-3.500 for a step 03 business website with a page per service, and EUR 3.500-7.500 for a step 04 site with a login, a dashboard or payments. Every range excludes VAT, and a fixed quote always follows scoping.
Those numbers do not change with your address. What sharing a city with your studio changes is how meetings run and how the site is planned around the way Amsterdam searches.
What a studio in the same city changes
Less than agency pages claim. Design happens in the browser on your real content, the build runs on a preview link you open on your own phone, and feedback travels by email or on a call. A studio in Groningen could run that part the same way. The city matters in three places.
- Meetings that need a room. Seeing the space your site has to describe, or showing a first version to a partner who will not judge a website over video. Inside one city, that means finding a slot in the diary rather than planning a trip.
- How people here search. By neighbourhood as well as by city: "kapper De Pijp", "physio Amsterdam Oost", "lunch Zuidas". The page plan should use the names your customers type.
- Two languages. The same practice can be found as a tandarts by one patient and as a dentist by the next. Each language needs its own pages, which changes the page count and can change the step.
How meetings run with us
The first conversation is a scoping call that places the project on a step, and from then on you talk to the person doing the work. Design reviews happen on a live preview rather than static mockups, because the people designing the site also build it, as design engineering explains.
We meet in person when a meeting earns its place, and that is agreed when the project is scoped. Good reasons are walking through your premises before the page plan is fixed, a session with the staff who will run the CMS, or the handover walkthrough at your own desk.
Local search in Amsterdam
An Amsterdam business can be selling to residents, to internationals who live here and to visitors passing through, and each of them searches differently. Google ranks local results on relevance, distance and prominence, and in a city this dense, distance behaves differently.
- Your competitors are close. Another salon or physiotherapy practice can be a few streets away, so distance barely separates you. What decides who appears is a clear page per service with a title that names it, plus the reviews and mentions you earn elsewhere.
- The searcher may not be in the city yet. A hotel, restaurant or walking tour can be found by someone at home abroad, planning a trip. When a search names a place, Google measures distance from that place rather than from the phone, so a page that says plainly which neighbourhood you are in does real work.
- Neighbourhood pages have limits. A page for every neighbourhood you do not operate from, with only the name changed, is a doorway page, and search engines treat those as spam.
Your Business Profile is free, and Google verifies it with the business, so claim it yourself. The website side is the SEO foundation at EUR 450-750 one-off: Search Console, analytics, indexation, technical hygiene, titles, internal links and a 3-6 month plan. SEO growth at EUR 500-800/mo adds service and location pages, internal links and reporting, once that plan holds more than you want to do yourself.
Which step fits an Amsterdam business
| Step | Price | Timeline | Fits a business that |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 Single-page landing | EUR 600-900 | 1-2 weeks | Needs one page for one service, offer or campaign, with a form and analytics |
| 02 Mini-site | EUR 900-1.500 | 2-3 weeks | Needs 2-3 pages, a contact flow and a basic CMS |
| 03 Business website | EUR 1.500-3.500 | 3-6 weeks | Sells several services and needs 4-7 pages, a CMS, service pages and booking or contact |
| 04 Advanced site or web app | EUR 3.500-7.500 | 6-12 weeks | Needs a login, a dashboard, API or CRM connections, payments, or a chatbot |
| 05 Custom SaaS platform | from EUR 7.500 | Set after discovery | Is building a product with its own scope, auth, billing and admin |
What moves the price
- Languages. Dutch and English means every page written and titled in both. On a step 02 site that can push the page count past what the step covers.
- Locations. A practice in Oost with a second branch in Noord needs two location pages, each with its own details.
- Taking money online. A deposit or an order paid online, including through iDEAL, is step 04. An appointment request or an embedded booking flow stays with the business website.
- What exists already. A brand, photos and written copy make a project cheaper. Photography and copy are included only when the quote says so.
Process and timeline
- Scoping call, which places the project on a step.
- Fixed quote, in writing, before any work starts.
- Design and build on a live preview.
- Launch and handover, with a walkthrough for whoever edits the site. The code, the repository and the database are yours. We can host the site, and whether we do is agreed per project.
- After launch, Care at EUR 100-300/mo for updates, monitoring, backups and small fixes, not redesigns or new features. Or nothing at all.
That takes 1-2 weeks at step 01, 2-3 weeks at step 02, 3-6 weeks at step 03 and 6-12 weeks at step 04, while step 05 is planned after discovery. Within each range, the part that waits on you is copy, photos and sign-off, so having them ready keeps your project at the short end.
When to spend less
Do not choose a studio because it is in Amsterdam. If being nearby is all you want from us, the build does not need it.
If customers already find you on the map and the phone rings, your site only has to confirm you exist: keep yours, or use a step 01 landing at EUR 600-900. A website builder tells you whether a new offer sells before you spend EUR 1.500-3.500. If you cannot yet say what you sell and to whom, do not hire us yet, because a site written before that is settled gets rewritten. And if your site works but nobody finds it, the SEO foundation may do more than a rebuild. Every figure is on the price list.
Questions buyers ask
Do we have to meet in person?
No. A whole project can run on calls, email and a preview link. In-person meetings are agreed per project when there is a reason for one, and sharing a city makes them simple to arrange.
Should our site be in Dutch, English or both?
Build for the language your customers search in. If you genuinely serve both, give each language its own pages and titles rather than mixing them. That adds pages, so raise it at scoping, where it can move the price within a step or to the next one.
Can you get us to the top of the map for our neighbourhood?
Nobody can honestly promise a position. What we control is a site that agrees with your Business Profile, a clear page per service, and the technical side covered by the SEO foundation. Distance means some searches will still go to a competitor closer to the person searching.
We want to sell online. Which step is that?
Step 04, EUR 3.500-7.500 over 6-12 weeks, where payments sit alongside logins, dashboards and API connections. If people only need to request an appointment, a business website with booking or contact is enough. When Next.js suits a build like that, our Next.js page explains why.
If your business is in Amsterdam and you want to know which step your site belongs on, tell us what it needs to do.
