How to Write a Service Page
A service page has to let a buyer decide without ringing you first: what the service is, who it is for, what it costs or what sets the price, what happens next, and why they should believe you. A page per service fits a step 02 mini-site for two or three services, and a step 03 business website at EUR 1.500-3.500 with 4-7 pages beyond that, and a smaller site can use the same structure.
Whoever types the sentences, the facts in them have to come from you. Someone who searched for one service arrives with that service in mind, and nothing stops them opening another tab. The page is doing the job of the first phone call, so it has to answer what that call would.
One service, one page
If a buyer would search for a service on its own, it needs its own page. A single services page cannot put the price, the process and the proof for each service in front of the person who wanted that one, and it cannot match each of those searches as closely either.
Count your services before you count pages. A step 02 mini-site has 2-3 pages. A step 03 business website has 4-7, which leaves room for a homepage, a contact page and several service pages. A site that needs more pages than that gets a fixed quote after scoping.
The structure, section by section
Write the sections in this order. Each one answers a question the buyer has before getting in touch.
- A heading that names the service. "Kitchen fitting in Utrecht" tells a searcher they are in the right place. "Solutions for your home" tells them nothing.
- Who it is for and what they get. Two sentences at the top: the kind of customer and the result. If there is work you do not take on, say so here.
- What is included, and what is not. A short list both ways. Exclusions tell the wrong buyer early, and they make the included list believable.
- Price. A range, a starting figure, or the factors that set the total. "Price on request" gives the buyer nothing to compare.
- How it works. The steps from first contact to finished job, with how long each one takes if you know.
- Proof. Your own work: photos of real jobs, examples you have permission to show, qualifications that apply. A stock photo proves nothing about your work, which is why real photography belongs on this page.
- Questions answered. The questions you answer on the phone about this service, written down with their answers.
- One next step. A form, a phone number or a booking button. Choose the one you want, show it near the top and again after the proof.
Weak and stronger versions
The difference between the two columns is specificity. The example is a kitchen fitter, but the pattern holds for any service.
| Section | Weak | Stronger |
|---|---|---|
| Heading | Our services | Kitchen fitting in Utrecht |
| Opening | Quality craftsmanship for every home | We fit new kitchens in houses and flats in and around Utrecht, from taking out the old one to the last cupboard handle |
| Included | Full service | Removing the old kitchen, fitting units and worktops, connecting the sink. Tiling is not included |
| Price | Contact us for a quote | Priced per kitchen. The size, the worktop material and any moved pipes set the total |
| Process | We handle everything | Measuring visit, written quote, fitting date agreed, fitting, final check together |
| Proof | Trusted by hundreds of customers | Photos of kitchens you fitted, with the town and what changed |
| Next step | Contact | Book a measuring visit |
What it costs to build
The price follows the site the page sits in, and what the page has to do.
- One service: step 01, a single-page landing at EUR 600-900, where the service page is the whole site. 1-2 weeks.
- Two services on a small site: step 02, a mini-site at EUR 900-1.500 with 2-3 pages and a basic CMS. 2-3 weeks.
- Several services with their own pages, plus booking or a contact flow: step 03, a business website at EUR 1.500-3.500 with 4-7 pages. 3-6 weeks.
- A service the buyer books and pays for online, or logs in to manage: step 04, an advanced site or web app at EUR 3.500-7.500. 6-12 weeks.
- More service and location pages added over time for search: SEO growth at EUR 500-800 a month.
The full ladder is on packages.
How to write it, in order
- List the questions. Write down every question you answer on calls and in emails about this service.
- Answer them plainly. Use the words a customer uses, not the words on your invoices.
- Sort the answers into the eight sections. Anything that fits none of them belongs on another page, or nowhere.
- Gather proof. Photos and examples you have permission to use.
- Cut. Remove every sentence that would sit on a competitor's page unchanged.
- Link it. Point the homepage, related services and relevant articles at the page, as internal linking explained sets out.
Content is the part of any timeline that waits on you. What content you need to provide lists what else a build needs from your side.
When to spend less
If you offer one service, you do not need a page per service. A single-page landing at EUR 600-900 can carry all eight sections.
If you already have a site whose pages you can edit, rewrite those pages with this structure before paying for new ones. Applying the structure costs your time rather than a build, and a clearer page on the site you have tells you whether the words were the problem.
And if a buyer only needs to know your area and how to reach you, a clear page with a working phone number does that job. Do not buy a bigger build until the pages you have say what they should.
Questions buyers ask
How long should a service page be?
As long as the answers take. No word count makes a page rank or bring enquiries by itself. A simple service needs less room than one with options, exclusions and several steps, so cut anything that answers a question nobody has put to you.
Should the price be on the page?
Give as much as you honestly can: a range, a starting figure, or what sets the price. A buyer comparing providers can act on a range, while "price on request" gives them nothing to compare. If every job really is different, name what makes it different.
Can one page cover all my services?
It can list them, with a line and a link each. It cannot give every service its own price, process and proof without turning into a long page where each buyer has to dig for their part. Use the list as a route to the service pages, not a replacement for them.
Do I need a separate page for every town I work in?
Only if each town page says something the others do not, such as projects there or how you handle travel. A page that swaps the town name and repeats the rest gives a reader nothing new. Service and location pages built up over time are part of SEO growth at EUR 500-800 a month.
